Blog Post #11: Hamlet Character Blog- Horatio

I have chosen to write my blog from Horatio’s point of view. Horatio, although he is static, is responsible for the majority of the framing in the play. We can trust what Horatio says because he is Hamlet’s one and only confidante. Horatio offers a logical and rational outside view on all of the drama that is unfolding between the characters. He is almost like a Nick Caraway and I enjoyed the perspective that Nick had in The Great Gatsby where he was aware and informed about everything going on but wasn’t too involved in any of it. It would be interesting to be able to comment on all of the chaotic events that go on the in the play from a neutral stance. Personally, I use social media as more of a way to observe other peoples drama then share my own which is something that I feel Horatio would be good at. I also admire Horatio’s self-control and loyalty towards his friend, Hamlet. I feel like I can relate to these aspects of Horatio’s personality and can express his character well in my writing.
